The Great Canadian Data Centre Symposium 2019

June 19-20, 2019  -  McMaster Innovation Park, Hamilton, Ontario

CDCXA

CDCXA: Is it a research initiative? An awards program? A source guide for firms looking to identify relevant suppliers?
Yes!

The Canadian Data Centre Excellence Awards (CDCXA) responds to community requests for a fact-based, credible approach to identify, recognizing and celebrating excellence in the Canadian data centre industry.

CDCXA consists of three discrete phases. The first centres on a survey of the Canadian (and global) data centre industry, in which respondents - approached directly by GCDCS19 organizers, through community partner AFCOM, and through more than 140 suppliers based in Canada, the US and other countries - are asked to weigh in on the impact of industry trends on their operations, and to nominate and assess leaders in three categories:

  • Data centre management and operations: Excellence in facility design, excellence in facilities operations, excellence in edge data centre operations, excellence in hybrid computing, and excellence in sustainable data centre operations.
    • Click here to celebrate excellence in the Canadian data centre community by nominating a leading innovator!
  • Data centre suppliers: Leadership in power solutions, cooling solutions, cloud, colo, data centre servers, data centre storage, data centre software, data centre networking, racks/cabling/other infrastructure hardware, DCIM, SDx, edge computing, and data centre design, engineering and professional services.
    • Click here to provide your feedback on key trends and suppliers!
  • Data centre visionaries: One award for an academic visionary, and one for an industry visionary.

The second stage of the process involves the 'celebrating' aspect of CDCXA: a gala awards dinner, held at McMaster on the evening of June 19th. The gala will bring together nominees in all three categories, plus additional industry professionals and academic researchers. We will recognize excellence in the Canadian data centre community - while reinforcing the bonds that make the community a milieu for innovation.

The third stage involves post-event publication(s). The CDCXA research will produce information that forms the basis of a DC Vision report that will be distributed to delegates and sponsors at the Symposium, and which will be available from sponsors (and GCDCS itself) after the event.

In addition, the research will be used to define the CDCXA100 - a source guide containing links to 100 key suppliers - "some you have been doing business with for years - some who you are probably just getting to know - and some who are positioned to deliver capabilities that will be important as the future arrives." The print version of CDCX100 will be distributed at the Symposium as part of the event guide, and an online version will be hosted for 12 months - until we are ready for the 2020 edition!
