Expanding GCDCS beyond June, and to new locations
DC Foresight - continuing in the tradition of community
co-creation of best practice positions.
GCDCS organizer InsightaaS has a
long history of bringing together Canadian thought leaders to co-create best practice
research.
The first InsightaaS best practice
community, the Toronto Cloud Business Coalition, grew to approximately 200 members, and
has issued over a dozen best practice reports that rank s the richest resources
available to cloud-engaged professionals in Canada (and beyond!). The first ten reports
were aggregated into the acclaimed book
Building Cloud Value, which credits 40 contributors.
Subsequent years saw the launch of new communities: IoT Coalition Canada, Canadian
Analytics Business Coalition, and the hugely successful Vision to Value (V2V) community,
which has driven a popular Meetup series and generated a second book,
Analytics in a Business Context.
Working with CIRC and the GCDCS
community, InsightaaS is now bringing its research development methodology to the data
centre community. 2019 will see development of 4-8 data centre best practice documents,
most of which will be supported by meetups in Toronto or other
locales.
Each DC Foresight
best practice initiative starts with a research call (or two): guided by an InsightaaS analyst,
groups of professionals with different perspectives but common interests work through a detailed
agenda. InsightaaS assembles the input from the calls into report form, and works with
contributors to fine-tune text and graphics. The final report recognizes all contributors
(including sponsor SMEs and other community members) on the cover, and is promoted by InsightaaS
and contributors.
Optionally, sponsors may opt to discuss the report findings at a meetup. InsightaaS manages
four primary meetup groups: CIA-Plus (for Cloud, IoT and Analytics, 'plus' enabling technology
and services), V2V, Transformative Technologies in Canada and DC Foresight. WIth support from
these groups, InsightaaS draws together meetups of 50-70 professionals who are eager to learn
about and discuss report topics.
DC Foresight plays a key role in GCDCS19 planning. InsightaaS will work with executive sponsors
to develop research materials that will be available to Symposium registrants for pre-event
downloads, and which are vetted through comunity meetups. In these ways, DC Foresight will make
an important contribution tocommunity the momentum leading into GCDCS19, and to the depth of
discussion in 'main stage' and breakout sessions at the event.
